Overhead Linesman (LE1)

Location: Scotland OR East Coast of England OR Gloucester – UK Wide Projects

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Shift Pattern: 10-hour shifts | Weekend on / Weekend off

Travel: Site-based with regular UK travel and overnight stays

Role Type: Permanent, Full-time

ARCA Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading UK energy and infrastructure business for an experienced Overhead Linesman (LE1) to join its growing transmission and distribution team. Our client delivers specialist engineering and operational services across the UK energy and utilities sector, including high-voltage networks, renewables and grid connection projects.

The Role

As an Overhead Linesman (LE1) you will support the safe and efficient delivery of overhead line construction projects, working alongside the OHL Foreman and providing technical guidance to LE2 Operatives and Trainees.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overhead line construction, including foundations, tower erection and conductor stringing.
  • Installation of conductors, earth wires, insulators, fittings and associated equipment.
  • Maintenance, refurbishment and dismantling of existing OHL assets.
  • Working to RAMS, drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements.
  • Supporting and mentoring LE2 Operatives and Trainees.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and productivity.
  • Identifying and reporting operational, safety and programme issues.

About You

We're looking for an experienced OHL professional with:

  • Significant LE1 experience within transmission and distribution.
  • Proven experience on 132kV–400kV OHL projects.
  • Strong knowledge of RAMS, working at height and safe systems of work.
  • Relevant National Grid competencies.
  • Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable: National Grid Competent Person Authorisations, First Aid, Rescue from Height, CPCS, EUSR/CSCS and lifting or rigging experience.
