Overhead Linesperson (LE1)

National, UK.

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious LE1 Overhead Lines Operative to join our Energy Overhead Lines team, supporting the delivery of major transmission projects across the UK.

Working on high-profile overhead line schemes, you will play a significant role in the installation, refurbishment, and maintenance of overhead power lines up to 400kV. As part of a resolute wiring gang, you will contribute to the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of projects while continuing to develop your technical skills and industry knowledge.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced overhead lines professional who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

Role Responsibilities

  • Install, build, and refurbish overhead power lines up to 400kV.
  • Deliver all work in line with company and client standards, policies, procedures, and industry regulations.
  • Work collaboratively within an overhead lines wiring team to support the successful delivery of projects.
  • Maintain ambitious standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance always.
  • Complete daily risk assessments and adhere to all relevant safety documentation and guidance.
  • Follow approved methods of work and company procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Promptly report any accidents, incidents, hazards, or near misses.
  • Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards.
  • Maintain and continually develop technical skills, competencies, and industry knowledge to meet evolving operational and legislative requirements.
  • Contribute positively to site operations, supporting productivity, teamwork, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills, Experience And Qualifications

  • National Grid approved LE1 competencies (NG Persons).
  • Experience working as an LE1 Overhead Lines Operative.
  • Experience delivering overhead line refurbishment projects up to and including 400kV.
  • Experience working on overhead line transmission networks.
  • Experience operating specialist overhead line plant and equipment, including winch tractors, capstan winches, and puller/tensioners.
  • Experience supporting the installation, maintenance, or refurbishment of overhead line infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of industry health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a safety-critical environment.
  • Effective communication skills and an initiative-taking approach to problem-solving.
  • NSI 4 Operations certification is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience supporting new-build overhead line projects would be advantageous.

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying, and jointing of cables, (fluid filled and XLPe), substations and overhead line, new build, repair, and refurbishment services.
