AQA is an educational charity committed to helping students and teachers realise their potential. We’re looking for senior associates to create high quality assessment materials of our NEW: International GCSE Chinese – First Language (9263) | OxfordAQA International Qualifications
These roles can be worked flexibly and is designed to be carried out alongside full time teaching commitments.
What you’ll do
Chief Examiner
- Oversee the development of question papers and mark schemes, ensuring they are of the highest quality and provide fair, reliable assessment.
- Leading a team of senior associates, guide the review and refinement of assessment materials, balancing deadlines with the need for consistent standards.
- Play a key role in supporting and influencing the quality of marking, helping to resolve escalations and ensuring robust processes are in place.
- Your work will be essential in delivering assessments that meet the needs of both students and teachers.
- The Chief will be required to attend approximately 6 full day meetings across the year. Please note that these may take place during the school term as the successful candidate will work across both the June and November series.
Lead Assessment Writer
- Play a key role in the question paper production process by creating high quality assessment materials which reflect the requirements set out in a brief.
- The successful applicant would complete this work for both the June and November series.
- Required to attend approximately 4 full day remote meetings per year. Please note that these may take place during the school term.

Reviser
- Check assessment materials to ensure that they are error free and meet their purpose as outlined in the planning phase.
- Proofread and report on question papers to ensure the standard is appropriate for the target audience of students and fulfils the demands of the specification and assessment objectives.
- The Reviser will be required to attend approximately 4 full day meetings across the year. Please note that these may take place during the school term.

- Excellent knowledge of Chinese.
- An in-depth knowledge of assessment, with a sound understanding of curriculum requirements.
- Strong leadership and people skills, capable of leading with positivity while supporting and developing a team.
- Problem-solving and time management abilities, balancing competing priorities and resolving issues quickly and effectively.
- A focus on quality and consistency, ensuring high standards across all aspects of assessment.
Lead Assessment Writer
- Excellent knowledge of Chinese, and involvement in the teaching or learning of the language.
- Experience of writing questions in an education setting and a comprehension of what makes a good question paper and mark scheme.
- Your ability to write to a brief.
- Consistency in meeting deadlines and delivering work to a strict schedule.
- Adaptability in refining work based on feedback from multiple sources.

Reviser
- A sound understanding of good assessment practices.

Be a native speaker of Chinese

Please note that other AQA associate roles may need to be relinquished if you are successful
This is a contractual role; you’ll be paid a fee for both your work and meeting attendance.
