On behalf of our global defence client, we are seeking to employ a P-8A Training Programme Manager to be based at Bristol.

Due to the nature of this role, to be successful in an application, you should be a UK passport holder. You will need to be security cleared to SC level.

Job Title: P-8A Training Programme Manager
Location: Bristol
Employment Type: Contract (12 months)
Working Time: Mon - Friday only
Package: Competitive hourly Rate, Hybrid (min 3 days a week onsite)

Role Purpose

  • Lead and be accountable for the delivery of the P-8A Training Support Provision (TSP) contract (time, cost, requirement, and quality).
  • Act as the primary interface to the UK MOD for overall performance.
  • Support E-7 Training transition from mobilisation to execution phase, thus creating and standing up the Training Service IPT.

Key P-8A TSP Contract Elements

  • Provision of SQEP Instructors and Console Operators to meet the Statement of Requirements.
  • Provision of Course Design Support Personnel to meet the Statement of Requirements.
  • Ensure Specified Assets availability and provision of suitably qualified maintenance personnel, spares, licences, and configuration control.
  • Manage Additional Tasks.
  • Provide General Support personnel for daily Training Centre operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the cross-functional programme team delivering P-8A & E-7 training and associated scope.
  • Execute, monitor, control, and report the programme in accordance with clients' processes and governance to meet time, cost, and quality targets, and contractual KPIs.
  • Act as the primary interface to internal and external stakeholders, including the Authority, MOD customers, NAM, and OC42.
  • Integrate and implement Programme Management Best Practices across the TSP programme.
  • Support Training Growth initiatives (e.g. PP2 / POWER), international training expansion (Germany, Denmark, Norway), and training device upgrades.
  • Oversee day-to-day leadership of assigned TSP Project Manager(s); provide coaching, development, and performance management.
  • Maintain strong supplier and subcontract management, ensuring SQEP recruitment and contractor performance.
  • Champion Boeing values and behaviours; foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely delivery of contractual deliverables, CDRLs, and milestone commitments.

Essential Requirements

  • Accredited programme/project management qualification: APMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMI-PMP, Boeing PMW courses, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience leading cross-functional teams, ideally in a matrix organisation.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrable track record of successful delivery and accountability.
  • Ability to act as primary customer interface and influence senior stakeholders.

Desirable Skills & Attributes

  • 10+ years' programme / project management experience in aerospace or defence, with budget ownership and cost management.
  • Direct experience managing UK MOD contracts and service contracts, including KPI/PI management.
  • Experience of mobilisation-to-execution transitions and standing up training or sustainment capability.
  • Strong stakeholder management across clients, suppliers, sponsors, and assurance organisations.
  • Demonstrable skills in contract/financial control over multi-year production or sustainment contracts.
  • Ability to manage change within challenging schedules and competing priorities.
  • Degree qualified (preferably engineering or business management).
  • 'Can-do' attitude, pragmatic problem solver, collaborative leader who gets the best from a team.
