Job Title: P6 Planner

Location: Chester

Lakers is a leading mechanical contractor operating within the engineering construction industry. We specialise in the installation of highly regulated process piping systems, delivering high-quality solutions for blue chip clients across the Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical sectors.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced P6 Planner to join our team based in Chester. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and controlling detailed project schedules to support the successful delivery of engineering and maintenance activities. This role requires strong experience using Primavera P6 and SAP, along with excellent planning, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.

Please note: Candidates within commutable distance to site preferred. The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a DBS check prior to your start.

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Integrate planning activities with SAP work management systems.
  • Monitor project progress and identify schedule risks, delays, and opportunities.
  • Produce weekly and monthly planning reports, progress updates, and performance metrics.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and site teams to ensure accurate schedule information.
  • Support shutdowns, maintenance activities, and project delivery planning.
  • Conduct critical path analysis and resource loading exercises.
  • Track schedule performance against baselines and recommend corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure planning data is maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Participate in planning meetings and provide scheduling expertise to stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Planner/Scheduler in an industrial, engineering, construction, utilities, or maintenance environment.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6.
  • Experience using SAP for work management, maintenance planning, or project controls.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling principles, critical path methodology, and project controls.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable working alone and making informed decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience working on regulated or secure sites.
  • Experience supporting major projects, shutdowns, or maintenance programmes.
  • Relevant planning, engineering, or project management qualifications.
  • Knowledge of risk management and earned value principles.

Security Requirements

  • Successful candidates must be willing and able to obtain a DBS check prior to site access.
  • Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.
