Insurance Supervision

The PRA's Insurance Supervision Directorate is the largest Directorate in the PRA. We supervise over 500 UK insurance firms and branches of international insurers across life insurance, general insurance and specialist supervision. Insurance plays a vital role in supporting households, businesses and the wider economy, providing financial security and resilience when it is needed most.

The sector is grappling with some of the biggest challenges facing society, from climate change and cyber risk to changing demographics, long term investment for growth, and technological innovation. As insurers adapt their business models to meet these challenges, our work continues to evolve too, making Insurance Supervision a fascinating place to work at the intersection of risk, policy, supervision and strategy.

We are committed to being a high-performing, inclusive and supportive Directorate where colleagues can build fulfilling careers, develop deep expertise and make a meaningful impact on the safety and soundness of the UK financial system.

Role Responsibilities

A core part of the role will be the provision of high-quality administrative and business support to the Director of Insurance Supervision, to the Senior Technical Advisor and to the Private Secretary while also being part of the wider office team in supporting the wider ED & Director Office team in delivering events and key Directorate activities.

We're looking for someone who is organised, approachable and proactive, with excellent communication and administrative skills. You'll enjoy managing competing priorities, working at pace and providing a high-quality service, while building strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

The role offers a unique perspective on the breadth of work taking place across Insurance Supervision. You'll work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the Bank, while also engaging with external stakeholders including regulated firms, industry bodies, other regulators and partner organisations.

You will be part of a strong and supportive PA community, with opportunities to learn, grow and build relationships across the Directorate. The breadth of the role, combined with the exposure you'll gain to senior leaders and external stakeholders, makes it an excellent platform for future career development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
