Salary: £32,046 - £34,968 per annum pro rata
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location on a weekly basis, which will be approximately 2-3 days per week or as often as is needed to carry out your role
Contract Type: Hybrid - Permanent
Closing Date: 21st September 2026
Interview Date: 30th September 2026 - these will take place face to face at Priory House, Shefford and will include some practical in-tray tests
About the role

If so, you may be interested as we’re looking to appoint a Personal Assistant who will provide first-class executive support to our Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Place and Communities.
Central Bedfordshire is growing fast. More than 2000 new homes are being delivered each year. We are central in the Ox Cam Corridor and the choices made now will shape the place for decades. The M1, A1, East Coast Mainline and Midland Mainline giving great connectivity north and south all of which will be bolstered by East West Rail and make the area even more important to growth opportunities. Universal Studios has just received planning permission, and we are working with the government following their recent announcement on New Towns. By supporting the Director of Place Communities, you will play an important role in helping to deliver these exciting projects, plus much more across a variety of areas.
You will work within our Leadership Support Team delivering an efficient and responsive service, ensuring our senior leadership team have the day-to-day support they need. This will include managing others within the wider Leadership Support Team.

This important role is busy, fast-paced and no two days will be the same. Your day will involve diary and inbox management, facilitation of meetings both virtual and in person including minuting meetings, assistance with preparation of papers for key meetings and presentations, and liaison with officers to assist with responses to MP’s, Elected Members, Town and Parish Councils and resident enquiries.
You will be proficient in Microsoft Office and have excellent organisation, interpersonal and communication skills and be an expert in prioritising and managing busy schedules. A good work ethic and working under pressure is a must. You must be proactive, conscientious, and hard-working and be prepared to use your initiative and strong judgment whilst demonstrating discretion and confidentiality.
As well as all this, we would expect you to take great pride in a job well done and demonstrate mutual respect to others.
Experience in supporting a senior leadership team in Local Government or within the Public Sector is advantageous.
The role will require you to work from our office at Priory House regularly during the working week, subject to business needs you will therefore need to be able to travel independently around Central Bedfordshire to attend our office locations.
