PA to Executive Director, Communications and Public Policy (AC20)

Contract: Permanent, working 21 hours per week. (Arts Council also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcome applications from individuals who require flexibility)

Salary: £28,662 (pro rata) per annum Grade E plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.

Location: Bristol (The role will be based in Bristol; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members of the team, normally 1-2 days a week)

Introduction:

We're looking for an exceptional Personal Assistant to provide high-quality support to our Executive Director of Public Policy and Communication.

You'll help ensure the Executive Director is able to focus on strategic priorities by expertly managing a busy diary and inbox, coordinating complex meetings, preparing itineraries, organising travel, overseeing the Executive Director's discretionary budget and financial administration, including expenses and corporate card management, and ensuring actions are followed through.

Working closely with teams across Public Policy and Communication, as well as colleagues throughout Arts Council England, you'll play a key role in supporting effective decision-making and helping the Executive Director operate smoothly. If you're someone who enjoys solving problems, anticipating what's needed before being asked and making a real difference behind the scenes, we'd love to hear from you.

Role Details:

You'll be trusted to exercise sound judgement, manage competing priorities and build strong relationships with colleagues and external partners alike. On behalf of the Executive Director, you'll coordinate meetings and events, manage administrative processes, support budget monitoring and ensure the smooth running of the Executive Director's diary, as well as providing occasional administrative support to the Communication Directors who report to the Executive Director.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
