As a Packaging Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and delivering robust, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions that support safety, quality, and operational efficiency across the supply chain.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimisation of packaging solutions for a wide range of products, ensuring alignment with safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets; providing detailed guidance and specifications to suppliers.
- Collaborate closely with suppliers, logistics providers, and cross-functional teams to define packaging requirements and ensure successful implementation.
- Follow procedures in approving all packaging for a specific product line. Drive solutions that minimize the risk of transportation damage.
- Evaluate packaging materials, automation technologies and machinery, and report the results regularly.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on damage reduction and safety, using root cause analysis and risk-based decision making.
- Adhere to the packaging development process and assist in executing key packaging phases.
- Support supplier visits and travel to Desford facility for occasional training purposes.

Required Qualifications

- Able to demonstrate significant experience gathered within an industrial packaging / material handling equipment context.
- Self starter who is able to work with little to no supervision.
- Capable of utilising 3D CAD software in order to perform design reviews.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, challenge, and collaborate effectively across all levels.
- Strong project management experience and can provide examples of project leadership.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ability to balance cost, performance, and sustainability considerations when developing solutions.
- Familiarity with global supply chains.
