Job Title: Packaging Engineer
Location: Stockton:on:Tees (Fully Onsite)
Pay Rate: Competitive / Up to GBP33.00/hr+ (DOE / Umbrella / PAYE options)
Contract: 12 Month Contract (Likely to Extend)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri 08:00 - 16:00 core shift with flexibility)
Interview Process: Fast-Track 1-Stage Interview (F2F preferred, MS Teams available)
Caterpillar is seeking a proactive Packaging Engineer to act as the primary boots on the ground engineering presence at their Stockton facility. Currently supported remotely, this critical role offers high autonomy and complete project ownership to design, optimize, and implement packaging solutions that protect products, reduce transport damage, and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
- Packaging Design and Review: Design, develop, and optimize packaging solutions for a wide range of industrial components using 3D CAD software.
- CAD and Technical Drawings: Read, interpret, and review technical/CAD drawings to ensure alignment with safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analysis and risk-based decision-making to minimize transportation damage and optimize returnable packaging systems.
- Supplier and Site Collaboration: Provide detailed specifications to suppliers, coordinate packaging approvals, and manage relationships across supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements
Technical Skills:
- CAD software proficiency and proven experience reading/interpreting CAD drawings.
Experience:
- Background in an engineering or technical role within packaging, automotive, heavy equipment, or industrial manufacturing environments.
Project Management:
- Strong track record of leading projects independently with an accountability mindset.
