Role: Packaging Innovation Technologist
Location: HARIBO Castleford
Working hours: 38
Salary: Competitive; plus up to a 5% bonus
Position type: Permanent
We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Packaging Innovation Technologist… this could be your opportunity to join the sweet life of HARIBO!
To enable HARIBO success, with this role you will be our in-house specialist on packaging! You will be our go-to for technical packaging research and development as well as deliver innovation and packaging improvement projects. How impressive does that sound!
How You’ll Contribute To The Mix
- Leading on technical packaging development to facilitate our innovation pipeline
- Providing technical packaging solutions to deliver against a consumer led brief
- Being our go-to technical expert on all packaging related R&D projects
- Working with suppliers and the wider HARIBO group to proactively identify new packaging solutions for future innovation
- Working with new and existing suppliers to identify packaging innovations to improve our existing portfolio including identifying opportunities in line with business requirements
- Managing stakeholders effectively; ensuring Marketing, Procurement and Production up to date with project progression
- Liaising with Operations and Supply Chain to facilitate packaging trials and managing technical roll out to bring innovation to fruition
- Collaborating with Marketing to facilitate the development and launch of NPD through the Stage and Gate process
- Liaising with global R&D stakeholders to facilitate international collaboration and learning
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve packaging development processes as well as the newest plastic and waste reduction developments

Are you a Packaging R&D and material expert within our sweet world of FMCG? We could have the perfect opportunity for you!
We are looking for someone with stand out experience of working on product concepts as well as exposure to providing packaging recommendations on optimum delivery. To thrive within this role, we are looking for someone who always takes that proactive approach in identifying and escalating project risks.
Time management is key, are you able to effectively manage R&D projects in line with launch timings? And not forgetting stakeholder management, do you have experience of managing stakeholders cross functionally, in particular working with Marketing to identify future pipelines?

From a technical perspective, we’re looking for someone who has experience of successfully implementing the technical delivery of products in line with innovation platforms. It is also vital that you have impressive understanding of the stage and gate process. To enable sweet success, we are also looking for someone with experience of working with consumer research as well as interpreting research results. If you also have experience of leading packaging trials and product sign off, look no further!
Do you have top-tier problem solving abilities and are solution focused? We are looking for someone who thrives in making commercial based decisions and who isn’t fazed building business cases for investment sign off.
