STADA UK Thornton & Ross – Packaging Placement Student
Huddersfield | U.K. | Full-time | 12-month Fixed Term Contract
Commencing July 2027 | Salary £28,000
Join us for a 12-month placement in our Packaging Development team, where you’ll work on our Derma Cosmetics and Home Hygiene product packaging that make it into people’s homes. You’ll be embedded in a growing R&D team, with the chance not just to learn, but to actively shape how we work—our processes, tools and best practices.
Across the full packaging lifecycle, you’ll get hands-on experience from early concepts through to launch, collaborating with experts in Formulation, Marketing, Regulation, Operations, Supply Chain and external suppliers. Along the way, you’ll build industry-ready skills, gain exposure to real projects and grow your confidence in a dynamic, evolving environment.
We’re looking for a curious, motivated 2nd year BSc / BA student looking for a 3rd year placement in industry, who enjoys solving problems, is comfortable with change and ambiguity, and is excited to bring fresh ideas to help shape the future of our Packaging team.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Help develop and deliver real packaging solutions for derma cosmetics and household products that reach consumers.
- Get hands-on with packaging trials, testing and validation – from searching for innovative packaging solutions, compatibility and transit tests to sustainability assessments.
- Own technical tasks: creating and maintaining specifications, drawings, test reports and supplier data.
- Play a key role in sustainability for new product development, contributing to greener packaging choices.
- Shape how the team works by improving processes and helping build new tools, templates and ways of working.
- Enjoy real responsibility, strong practical involvement and visible impact in a team that genuinely listens to your ideas.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
