Job summary – What to expect:
As a Packaging Production Technician, you will be expected to carry out a wide range of tasks with a full knowledge of the processes in the assigned area and develop expertise in operating specific complex machinery.
In addition, this role aims to support the Maintenance Engineering department with identifying faults with packaging machinery. Implementing fixes where possible or supporting the engineers when a higher level of knowledge or experience is needed.
External and internal training will be provided.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Learning new and/or more complex processes in other areas.
- Operating machinery safely in accordance with company procedures and work instructions:
- Starting machinery
- Stopping machinery
- Basic machinery faults resolution
- Inputting materials
- Taking product and materials out
- Checking printed data & quality
- Performing first level maintenance tasks and fault fixing. Provide comprehensive fault information when escalating faults to maintenance engineers.
- Performing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and cleaning routines, as per procedures.
- Undertaking pack sizes changes on machines ensuring all settings correspond to specification sheets.
- Recording of production data in accordance with company procedures.
- Complying with health and safety regulations including the safe use of equipment (i.e. machinery, lift truck, manual handling equipment) and general good housekeeping to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
- Bringing knowledge in continuous improvement initiatives and projects.
- Investigating and responding to issues in relation to the area, communicating where necessary any relevant information to the Team Leader, Senior Operator or Maintenance Engineering team, to ensure minimum disruption and maximum service levels.
- When applicable, assisting in training with existing and new packaging machines.

About You
We're looking for someone with:
- Initiative - to be able to proactively identify improvements and communicate ways in which improvements can be made, in line with procedures.
- Computer literate with good IT skills
- Good knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety procedures.
- Strong communication skills and good organisational skills for support and effective interaction across departments

Work Environment:
- Working within a warehouse environment where there is an ongoing expectation and responsibility to maximise productivity levels and to ensure targets are met.
- Open planned factory with machinery, other moving equipment and predestines in proximity.
- Physically demanding and will involve standing for a significant proportion of the shift.
Experience and Education:
Experience:
- Ideally, 2 years’ experience in Packaging Department
- Experience in the use of hand tools.
- Able to demonstrate technical aptitude.
- Good fault finding/problem solving skills.
Education:
- High standard of verbal, numerical and mechanical reasoning ability
