Are you a passionate padel coach ready to launch an exciting new programme? Abingdon School has an exciting Padel Coach opportunity!
Location: Tilsley Park, Abingdon, OX14 1DE
Salary: £25 to £35 per hour
Job Type: Self-employed
Hours: Evenings, weekends, school holidays and occasional events as required
About Us:
Abingdon Sports and Leisure manages the Abingdon Foundation's sport and leisure facilities, including the Sports Centre, Tilsley Park and Amey Theatre. We serve the local community and partner organisations across Oxfordshire. Tilsley Park is a busy outdoor facility featuring multiple football and hockey pitches, a 3G pitch, athletics track, spin studio, bar and meeting room. New padel courts are under construction and due to open in September 2026. The Sports Centre offers an 8-lane swimming pool, sports hall, squash courts, gyms and climbing wall with extensive activity programmes and partnerships with local clubs and organisations.
Padel Coach - The Role:
You will deliver safe, high-quality and engaging padel coaching while supporting the launch, growth and day-to-day delivery of the padel programme at Tilsley Park. You will support a full range of padel activity including Pay and Play, taster sessions, one-to-one coaching, group coaching, junior and adult courses, Social Play, club-style sessions, leagues, tournaments, school use, community activity and corporate events. You will help customers progress from first-time participation through to regular play, coaching, competition and long-term engagement.

Padel Coach - Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality structured padel coaching sessions for individuals, pairs, groups, juniors, adults and mixed-ability players
- Plan and deliver sessions appropriate to age, ability, confidence and experience level, covering positioning, shot selection, serve, return, wall use, movement, tactics and match play
- Support the full padel activity pathway including courses, Social Play, junior activity, adult beginner and improver programmes, school use and community activity
- Create a welcoming, inclusive and well-managed environment, helping match players by ability and supporting customer progression
- Provide clear technical instruction and feedback while encouraging enjoyment, confidence and repeat participation
- Contribute to programme growth by providing feedback on customer demand, suggesting new sessions and supporting promotional activity
- Advise customers on equipment choices and support the rental racket offer
- Report on booking system usability, operational issues and customer feedback to reception, bookings and operations teams
- Deliver all activity in line with safeguarding, health and safety and risk assessment procedures

Padel Coach - You:
- Hold a recognised padel coaching qualification or relevant racquet-sport coaching qualification with demonstrable padel experience
- Have strong knowledge of padel technique, tactics, rules and safe coaching practice
- Have experience coaching adults, juniors or mixed-ability groups in structured courses and flexible sessions
- Can deliver excellent communication and create a welcoming, inclusive coaching environment
- Are reliable, punctual, well organised and committed to high standards of customer service
- Understand safeguarding responsibilities when working with children and young people
- Are able to work evenings, weekends and school holiday periods as required
- Display commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion principles
- Have the right to work in the UK for the duration of your self-employed contract
