Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 6 months
Salary: £27.50–£32.00 per hour
Working Hours: Part-time or Full-time

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join Child Development Centres across Shropshire and Telford on a locum basis. This is a 6-month opportunity suitable for a Band 6 or Band 7 therapist, with part-time and full-time hours available.

The successful candidate will primarily work within Child Development Centres, supporting the assessment and diagnostic pathway for children and young people with suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

This is an excellent opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist with experience working with children and young people who have autism and/or complex communication needs. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing specialist Speech and Language Therapy expertise to the assessment and diagnosis process and supporting children and their families throughout their care journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy input within Child Development Centres.
  • Contribute to the assessment and diagnostic pathway for children and young people with suspected Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
  • Assess children’s speech, language, communication and social communication needs.
  • Provide specialist clinical observations and assessments to support multidisciplinary diagnostic decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with paediatricians, psychologists, nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments and case discussions.
  • Provide clear clinical documentation and reports in line with professional standards.
  • Communicate assessment findings and recommendations appropriately to families and other professionals.
  • Support the development of appropriate recommendations and onward referrals where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
  • Provide a child-centred and family-focused approach throughout the assessment process.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
