Opportunity in LT/NIV Team for a CNS Band 7

An opportunity has arisen in our LT/NIV team for a CNS Band 7 to join our expanding team working across the Children’s Hospital including general/respiratory wards, NICU and PICU.

Role Overview

The post holder will take a significant leadership role in supporting the highest level of quality expert practice and support for children and young people with home mechanical ventilation (HMV) needs and their families. HMV includes those on Long-Term Ventilation and Non-Invasive Ventilation. This post holder will also be looking after children with Tracheostomies and Nasal Pharyngeal Airways as part of the LTV caseload. This will involve full liaison, participation, and interaction with the complex multidisciplinary and multiagency teams responsible for the delivery of both care and resources to establish effective transitional and home care packages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively and autonomously, offering authoritative, supplementary, and complementary practical support to the children and families within the caseload.
  • Lead and manage their own respiratory patient cohort and always work effectively alongside the MDT and other LTV CNS’s.
  • Take a leadership role in supporting the highest level of expert practice and support for children and young people with home mechanical ventilation (HMV) needs and their families across the Children’s Hospital including the general/respiratory wards, NICU and PPCU.
  • Challenge professional and organizational boundaries and assist in developing solutions that best meet the needs of children and their families.
  • Encompass a significant level of education, training, and leadership responsibilities to significantly increase both the capacity and capability of the service and individual families to respond to changing needs and provide ongoing effective care.
