Job Title: Locum Band 5/6 Speech and Language Therapist – Uxbridge, London

Banding: Band 5/6

Location: Beaufort House, Uxbridge (base location, with work across different settings throughout the borough)

Start Date: ASAP

Salary: £20.00–£28.00 per hour

Working Hours: Part-time or full-time

Duration: 3 months

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a community-based children's service in Uxbridge. This is an exciting locum opportunity for a Band 5 or Band 6 therapist to support predominantly preschool children presenting with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN).

Based at Beaufort House, the successful candidate will work across a range of community settings, including Children's Centres and community clinics throughout the borough. You will play a key role in the early identification, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children with communication difficulties, helping to improve their developmental outcomes through early intervention and tailored therapy programmes.

The role involves working closely with parents, carers, educational staff and other professionals to provide practical advice, training and support. You will also contribute to service development, quality governance and the ongoing delivery of high-quality care. Depending on experience, the successful candidate may also support and mentor less experienced therapists, assistants and volunteers.

This opportunity is ideal for a proactive and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about early intervention, safeguarding children and supporting families to develop effective communication strategies.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide assessment services for predominantly preschool children with speech, language and communication needs across Children's Centres and community clinics.
  • Assess, diagnose and deliver individualised therapy packages to support children's communication and language development.
  • Provide training and guidance to parents, carers and educational staff to support the implementation of therapy programmes.
  • Promote the early identification of speech, language and communication difficulties and support timely access to appropriate interventions.
  • Offer advice to parents and other professionals on early intervention and prevention strategies, using coaching, modelling and practical demonstrations.
  • Prioritise the safeguarding and welfare of vulnerable children at all times, following relevant policies and procedures.
  • Support the service in achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and maintaining target activity levels.
  • Participate in quality governance activities, clinical audits and projects to support service improvement.
  • Contribute ideas and feedback regarding potential developments within the team and wider service.
  • Provide mentoring, buddying, support and shadowing opportunities to less experienced Speech and Language Therapists, assistants and volunteers, as requested by the team leader.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
