Job Opportunity: Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist

Working within an existing and busy paediatric diabetes team, this is an opportunity to develop skills and knowledge in a Band 6 specialist nurse role and diabetes management. Royal Manchester Children's Hospital has rare and complex cases of diabetes alongside children and young people with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Do you have the enthusiasm, interest, and energy to be part of delivering excellent care to Children and Young People (CYP) & families with all forms of diabetes within RMCH?

About the Role

The Children's Diabetes team at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH) is pleased to be able to offer a Band 6, permanent post for a Paediatric Diabetes Nurse Specialist. You must be passionate about paediatric diabetes and achieving optimum health outcomes for children, young people, and their families living with this long-term condition. Experience within diabetes is desirable but a full training and a comprehensive induction package will be offered.

The Team

The established multi-disciplinary team comprises of paediatricians and endocrinologists, nurses, dietitians, psychologists, and a youth worker working to provide a seamless service across primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary care environments. Care is delivered in the home, school, and within inpatient and outpatient settings. An established insulin pump service has been in place since 2006, with approximately 90% of our current caseload on Hybrid Closed Loop insulin pumps. Service performance and outcomes are continuously being measured as part of Best Practice Tariff. We fully participate in the National Paediatric Diabetes Audit and are able to benchmark ourselves against similar services.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
