Job Description: Band 6 Sister - Paediatric Ward
We are looking for a well-organised, motivated and enthusiastic nurse to join our team. Ward 24 is a dynamic, fast-paced unit consisting of 29 Inpatient beds and 8 Paediatric Assessment beds. Within the ward footprint is an established High Dependency Unit which has recently been given Level 2 status.
Role Overview
The role of Band 6 sister requires a proactive, forward-thinking nurse. The successful candidate will help further develop the team, whilst delivering exceptional levels of care and family support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and deliver paediatric care with effective leadership and management skills.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care in collaboration with children, families, and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Administer medications safely, monitor and respond to changes in clinical condition, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Contribute to discharge planning and offer reassurance, education, and emotional support to children and their families.
- Liaise with various health and social care professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in safeguarding processes, attend relevant meetings, and follow up on concerns appropriately.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives, uphold infection control standards, and promote a positive and inclusive environment.
- Opportunities for personal development through regular supervision, training, and involvement in clinical audits or projects.
