Job Overview

As part of a partnership within the Paediatric ED at the DGH it is vital to ensure the service operates in a safe, effective and efficient way as part of a whole system. Foster a culture that encourages and enables individuals to have an active role in identifying, planning and meeting their individual needs. Support strategic leadership in relation to service improvement and quality evaluation.

Role Responsibilities

  • To provide visible, credible professional clinical leadership, supporting the clinical management of CYP with mental health issues who have presented to the Emergency Department, who may have CYP with challenging behaviour as a result of an underlying condition such as learning difficulties, Asperger’s and ADHD.
  • To improve patient experience, quality and efficiency of service in DGH by focusing on the significant number of CYP with mental health issues that can complicate their care and discharge.
  • Ensuring the care delivered to CYP with mental and physical health needs is of a high quality, research based, and is CYP and family/carer focused.
  • To support the wider paediatric nursing and medical team, by arranging training opportunities to up-skill all professionals on effectively managing CYP’s mental health needs.
  • To manage CYP presenting with mental health. Emotional health and social care needs, co-ordinating between the medical, nursing CYPS community teams.
