You must be a Registered Children's Nurse with excellent clinical skills, be self-motivated, enthusiastic and committed to providing high standards of care for all our paediatric patients, their families and carers.
Care and compassion in managing our paediatric patients and families is important to us. Therefore, we expect successful candidates to demonstrate these qualities on a daily basis, and have the resilience to meet the challenges of our busy and stimulating work environment.
Lion Ward is a 10 bedded fast paced, paediatric Neuro-Surgical ward, caring for children and young people with varying neuro-surgical conditions, including those with brain tumours, spinal cord defects and hydrocephalus requiring shunt insertions or External Ventricular Drains. As a major trauma centre, we also receive trauma patients such as those with traumatic brain injuries.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
