As a Paint Quality Technician - Product Quality Controller (PQC) within the Paint Quality department you will support as we seek to maintain and improve the quality of machines leaving the Desford facility. You conduct audits/inspections on parts and partially or fully built machines.
What you will do:
As a Quality Technician, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
- Conduct audits on parts and partially or fully built machines following inspection best practice/methodologies.
- Record defect information in detail via electronic, manual processes or visual boards.
- Investigate, analyse and identify Root Cause, and operate the NCM (Non-Confirming Material) process.
- Conduct Basic visual and dimensional inspection as part of investigations.
- Rework parts and machines as required.
- Must be willing to work a multi-shift pattern.

What You Can Demonstrate:
- Quality Operations: Communicates across departments and teams, to ensure a smooth workflow. Proactively reviews reject areas to ensure targets are achieved.
- Quality Knowledge: Read and interpret engineering drawings and quality standards. Able to inspect parts or machines to determine conformity.
- Paint Knowledge: Have worked with or have an understanding of Paint defects and compliance to the 1E2001
- Safety: Proactive in managing safety standards and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Foster psychological safety and team engagement, ensuring open communication and collaboration across diverse groups.
- Process Improvement: Evaluates production methods and maintains focus, with team input, on promoting the continuous improvement of processes and products utilising lean, Six Sigma and drive innovation.
- Prioritisation: Self-motivated and able to proactively manage multiple priorities.

What You May Have:
- Previous Material Requirements Planning System (Glovia) Experience.
- Advanced knowledge of reading engineering drawings.
- Skilled at using dimensional inspection tools.
Pending the number of applications, the criteria for the position may be enhanced to facilitate shortlisting.

£28,969 rising to £30,450 (20% shift allowance for afternoon shift, 27% for night shift)

Hours:
- Days Monday: 05:30– 14:30 Tuesday to Thursday 06:00–14:30 & Friday: 6:00–11:00
- Afternoons Monday: 14:00–23:00 Tuesday to Thursday 14:00 – 22:30 & Friday: 10:45 – 15:45
- Nights Monday: 00:00–6:00 & 22:30-06:30 Tuesday to Thursday 22:00 – 06: 30

About BCP
The Building Construction Products (BCP) division team is comprised of more than 9,000 employees—from assemblers and accountants to marketing professionals and engineers—we work in factories, warehouses, and offices all over the world.
We are responsible for the design, manufacturing, marketing and support of Caterpillar’s line of small, versatile construction machines and attachments for the commercial construction, residential construction, specialty trades, landscaping and agriculture industries. Products include small wheel loaders, compact wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, compact track loaders, mini hydraulic excavators, skid steer loaders, telehandlers and small track-type tractors.
