Hays Engineering are delighted to be partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit a Paint Department Supervisor for their expanding production facility in the Dungannon area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced paint shop professional to take ownership of a busy department, leading a team responsible for delivering high-quality finishing standards while ensuring productivity, efficiency and customer delivery targets are met.

Working within a modern manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in driving quality, continuous improvement and team performance.

Your new role

Reporting to the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Paint Department, ensuring production schedules, quality standards and health and safety requirements are consistently achieved.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and coordinating all Paint Department activities.
  • Planning and monitoring daily production schedules to meet customer requirements.
  • Ensuring all painting, coating and finishing processes meet company quality standards.
  • Leading, motivating and developing department personnel.
  • Managing labour allocation and departmental resources to maximise efficiency.
  • Conducting quality inspections and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Monitoring paint consumption, stock levels and materials to minimise waste and control costs.
  • Ensuring spray booths, equipment and machinery are maintained and operated safely.
  • Working closely with Production, Quality, Engineering and Maintenance teams to resolve issues.
  • Maintaining production records, quality documentation and KPI reports.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives across safety, quality and productivity.
  • Ensuring compliance with COSHH, environmental and health & safety regulations.
  • Investigating quality issues, accidents and near misses and implementing corrective actions.

What you'll need to succeed

Previous supervisory experience within a manufacturing or engineering paint department.

  • Strong understanding of industrial paint application, surface preparation and finishing processes.
  • Experience of production planning and workflow management.
  • Good knowledge of COSHH, health & safety and environmental requirements.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with wet paint and powder coating systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Forklift licence.
