Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Paint Sprayer/Finisher role based in the Greater Ipswich Area. The Paint Sprayer/Finisher will prepare wooden furniture surfaces by sanding, filling, and cleaning to ensure a high-quality finish. The role includes mixing and matching paints, stains, and lacquers, setting up spray equipment, and applying finishes with consistency and attention to detail.

Day-to-day tasks involve inspecting workpieces, correcting imperfections, maintaining tools and spray booths, and following health and safety procedures. The Paint Sprayer/Finisher will collaborate with designers, cabinetmakers, and project managers to meet production schedules and uphold Luxmoore & Co’s craftsmanship standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in furniture paint spraying and finishing, including preparation, staining, lacquering, and polishing.
  • Ability to mix, match, and apply a range of coatings (water-based, solvent-based, primers, topcoats) to achieve consistent color and texture.
  • Proficiency in using spray guns, sanding tools, and finishing equipment, with a focus on care, maintenance, and safe operation.
  • Solid understanding of surface preparation techniques and quality control checks to deliver premium, durable finishes.
  • Knowledge of health and safety standards related to paints, solvents, ventilation, PPE, and workshop practices.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a small, collaborative workshop team.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and reliability in meeting project deadlines and production targets.
  • Previous experience in high-end or bespoke furniture, cabinetry, or joinery environments is highly beneficial.
  • Relevant vocational training or apprenticeship in furniture finishing, spraying, or a related trade is an advantage.
