Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Painter and Decorator role based in Cambridge. The Painter and Decorator will prepare interior and exterior surfaces, including cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming, to ensure high-quality finishes.

- Applying paints, varnishes, stains, and decorative finishes
- Hanging and removing wallpaper
- Carrying out minor surface repairs
- Accurately following specifications and drawings
- Maintaining tools and equipment
- Keeping work areas tidy and safe
- Communicating clearly with clients and team members about progress, timelines, and any required adjustments
The successful candidate will work across a variety of domestic and commercial properties, delivering work that meets Knotts Decorating’s standards for quality and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Strong practical skills in interior and exterior painting, including brush, roller, and spray application techniques.
- Experience with wallpaper hanging and removal, and competent surface preparation (sanding, filling, priming, and repair).
- Knowledge of paints, coatings, materials, and finishes, including appropriate product selection for different surfaces and environments.
- Awareness of health and safety practices, including safe use of ladders, scaffolding, tools, and protective equipment.
- Ability to read and follow job specifications, plans, and client instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and manage multiple tasks on site.
- Clear communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional, customer-focused approach and positive team attitude.
- Previous experience as a painter and decorator (apprenticeship, trade qualification, or equivalent on-the-job experience) is highly desirable.
- A full, valid driver’s license and reliable transport to reach sites in and around Cambridge is an advantage.
- Willingness to work across a range of domestic and commercial projects and adapt to different environments and client needs.
