Painter and Decorator Opportunity in Avon and Somerset

The selected candidate will need to complete the Avon and Somerset Police Vetting process before starting in the position (takes approximately 2 weeks).

This role is likely to be a longer assignment as it is part of a 5-year lifecycle works with the end client.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and work from all instructions, drawings, and specifications appropriate to their own trade, without supervision.
  • Set up new work appropriate to their own trade using relevant tools, equipment, and machinery, without supervision, as appropriate to their grade.
  • Maintain workshops and working environment in a clean, tidy, and safe condition.
  • Work off tower scaffolding, MEWPs, ladders, and step ladders where required.
  • Carry out unsupervised maintenance and repairs and report any defects or unusual circumstances to the Charge Hand or Building Manager.
  • Requirement to learn new techniques with training as necessary.
  • Scope of work will include entering Mortuary, ITUs, A and E admissions, Operating Theatres, etc., after reporting to Trust Staff. Occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances could be encountered.
  • Understand the general working of the Equans Estate, so that work can be carried out in the most efficient manner, proactive in developing new ways of working.
  • Understand fully the inter-relationship between various maintenance crafts.
  • Be contacted by radio and/or PDA to receive instructions. This can involve frequent disruption to work patterns.
  • Be knowledgeable of and work to the current regulations, codes of practice, Health and Safety regulations, and all safety rules both Equans and Statutory.

Requirements

  • Appropriately recognized C and G, Scotvec (SVQ3), or equivalent.
  • Background in painting and decorating.
  • Good working knowledge of painting and decorating services, including AMES taping.
