We're looking for an experienced and motivated Painter & Decorator to join our team working across the North West. You'll be delivering high-quality internal and external painting and decorating works across a variety of projects

If you're looking for a long-term role with stability, competitive pay, and the opportunity to take pride in your work, this could be the perfect fit.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves carrying out all aspects of painting and decorating, including surface preparation, painting, and minor repairs. The work encompasses both internal and external finishes using a variety of materials and techniques. Employees will be required to safely erect and use access equipment, with full training and equipment provided. They will also install temporary screening to protect work areas and the public where needed. Monitoring material usage and maintaining adequate stock levels is essential, as is ensuring that tools and equipment are properly used, cleaned, and maintained. The position requires following work plans and completing tasks within agreed timescales and budgets. Additionally, recording work activity and completion using mobile technology is part of the job, with training provided.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 4 years of verifiable experience in painting and decorating. Ideally, applicants will hold an NVQ Level 2 qualification or its equivalent, with preference given to those who are time-served or apprenticeship-trained. Candidates should have excellent attention to detail, good communication, and strong customer service skills. They must be able to manage their workload effectively, work independently, and meet deadlines. While a driving licence is preferred, it is not essential. Candidates should also be comfortable using a smartphone to upload job information and photos.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
