Join Our Team
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Painter/Decorator to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) account at HMP Holme House.
Join our vibrant and inclusive Facilities Management team delivering vital services within the justice sector. At Amey, we support His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by helping to maintain safe, secure, and efficient prison environments across England and Wales. Through our expertise in facilities management, we help keep critical public sector infrastructure operating effectively, supporting rehabilitation and making a positive difference to communities.

What You Will Do
- Deliver planned and reactive painting and decorating works across the prison estate, maintaining a safe and professional environment.
- Ensure all work is completed to high-quality standards, meeting compliance and operational requirements.
- Maintain and care for tools, materials, and company equipment, ensuring they remain fit for purpose.
- Work in line with Health & Safety legislation, risk assessments, and company procedures.
- Support and guide prisoners through painting and decorating activities as part of Amey's rehabilitation-focused CRED programme.
- Contribute to the smooth operation of the facilities team by promoting best practice and high standards of workmanship.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
