Salary
£28,792 - £33,532 per annum
Hours
39 hours per week
Working Pattern
- Monday to Thursday: 07:45 - 16:45
- Friday to Sunday: 07:45 - 15:45
Plus: 1 in 4 weekend working on a rota basis with an additional 15% allowance on basic salary.

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Painter / Decorator to join our Ministry of Justice (MoJ) team at HMP Liverpool.
At Amey, we're supporting His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by delivering facilities management services that help create safe, secure and efficient prison environments. Through our expertise, we help keep more than 60 secure sites across England and Wales operating effectively every day.
This is more than a painting and decorating role. You'll be part of a team that helps maintain a safe and decent environment for prison staff, visitors and prisoners. You'll also have the opportunity to support prisoner rehabilitation by sharing your skills and helping individuals develop valuable trade experience through Amey's CRED programme. This is a rewarding position where your work makes a genuine difference every day.
What You Will Do
- Deliver high-quality planned and reactive painting and decorating work across a busy prison environment.
- Help maintain safe, secure and well-presented facilities that support the day-to-day operation of the prison.
- Ensure tools, materials and equipment are maintained, stored and used responsibly.
- Work in line with health, safety and compliance requirements to achieve safe and efficient outcomes.
- Support and guide prisoners undertaking painting and decorating activities through Amey's rehabilitation-focused CRED programme.
- Contribute to a positive team culture by sharing knowledge, best practice and trade expertise.

What You Will Bring
- A positive and professional approach to working within a secure environment.
- Confidence working alongside and supervising prisoners in a constructive and respectful manner.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a wider facilities team.
- NVQ Level 2 in Painting and Decorating (essential).
- Previous experience within a painting and decorating role.
- Experience of sharing knowledge and supporting others to develop their skills.

Security Clearance
Due to the nature of this role, successful candidates will be required to obtain standard DBS and Prison Security Clearance before commencing employment. Amey will support you throughout the clearance process.
