Role Overview
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent Location: RAF Alconbury & RAF Molesworth Working Hours: 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM) Salary: £32,000–£34,000 per year (dependent on experience)
About the Role
As a Painter & Decorator, you’ll maintain and enhance military housing for service families and personnel—from refresh and redecoration to broader site projects. This role is hands-on, responsible, and dynamic, demanding both self-sufficiency and strong client-facing communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-standard painting and decorating across occupied and vacant properties, with priority in:
- Move-in/move-out works (time-sensitive deadlines)
- Clearing, preparation, and finishing to professional industry standards
- Surface restoration: fill holes, repair surfaces; prepare walls with skimming, jointing, and surface-level repairs
- Support light remedial works (e.g., plastering, plasterboard servicing)
- Perform both internal and external decorating for consistent, high-quality results
- Manage site protection; uphold clean working methods; inspect/address snagging promptly
- Ensure efficient project progression and client satisfaction

A company van and fuel card will be provided to cover duties across both RAF bases.
Who We’re Looking For
We need a skilled, detail-oriented professional with:
- Proven experience in painting and decorating to a military/homebuilding standard.
- Preference given to those holding (City & Guilds or equivalent) certifications. Experience in:
- Plastering
- Skim jointing
- Wall/floor repairs
- Professional-grade surface preparation revellers highly valued.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and ability to work under pressure (meeting tight deadlines).
- Excellent communication, customer-centric approach and trustworthiness.
- A full UK driving licence (essential due to daily travel across bases).
- Willingness to undergo BPSS clearance.
