About The Role

Pertemps London is recruiting a Painter & Decorator (Student Accommodation) to work across a busy London site. This full-time, temporary assignment begins on 24th August 2026 and runs until October 2026, paying £15.44 per hour. You will work 37.5 hours weekly, on a rota covering Monday to Sunday between 9:00am and 5:00pm. The role involves preparing bedrooms and communal areas to a high finish, alongside basic DIY maintenance duties. Candidates should possess solid painting skills, attention to detail, and practical repair abilities. This hands-on position suits a reliable professional who can work independently, ensuring resident spaces remain safe, clean, and well-presented throughout the tenancy period.

Pay Rate: £15.44 per hour PAYE

This is a hands-on role ideal for an experienced painter and decorator who also has basic DIY and maintenance skills. You will play a key role in preparing rooms and communal areas to a high standard, ensuring residents enjoy a clean, safe, and well-presented living environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out painting and decorating works across student bedrooms, communal areas, and shared facilities.
  • Prepare surfaces including sanding, filling, and minor repair work before painting.
  • Complete touch-ups, redecoration projects, and refresh works to maintain the appearance of the property.
  • Undertake basic DIY and general maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify maintenance issues.
  • Ensure work areas are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
  • Update completed works using internal systems where required.
  • Deliver excellent customer service when interacting with residents and site staff.
  • Support the wider facilities team with general upkeep of the accommodation.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Painter & Decorator, Multi-Trade Operative, Handyperson, or Maintenance Operative.
  • Strong painting and decorating skills with experience of surface preparation, filling, sanding, and finishing work.
  • Basic DIY and maintenance skills, including minor repairs and general handyman duties.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work.
  • Comfortable using a mobile device or tablet to update jobs.
  • Friendly and professional approach with good communication skills.
