The Role

This position will require travel across multiple locations, so a driving license and access to a vehicle will be essential. The post holder will be based out of our Audley village in ******* but the position will include regular travel to our other sites in ********

Audley retirement villages are set in unique locations where our village owners can retire in a peaceful and lavish setting. Audley villages comprises of owners, who permanently reside on site within their own private homes and who pay a management fee for the upkeep of their properties and access to services on site. The village also hosts external customers, and this role is responsible for providing a first class, positive experience for both types of clients.

As a Painter and Decorator reporting to the Facilities Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of our retirement villages across a designated geographic area. Your role will involve executing painting and decorating tasks to enhance the living environment for our owners and ensure a welcoming environment.

Principal Accountabilities And Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager, provide a proactive and reactive painting and decorating service to our Retirement villages.

  • Be responsible for repairs to the surfaces of walls, floors, ceilings, doors and windows both front and back of house and both inside and outside the properties.
  • Develop a detailed painting plan with the Facilities Manager, outlining what needs to be painted, the methods, and materials required for a professional finish and longevity.
  • Create and maintain a painting schedule, specifying when work will be undertaken in each area of a village and at what frequency.
  • Identify and address decorative maintenance issues promptly, including touch-ups, repairs, and remediation of water damage or other surface imperfections.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure all painted surfaces are in good condition and address any issues proactively.
  • Be diplomatic and empathetic when dealing with our Owners both around the village and within their own homes.
  • Maintain an inventory of painting supplies, equipment, and materials, and requisition additional items as needed to support ongoing maintenance projects.
  • Uphold meticulously high standards and take pride in your work, documenting your efforts with before and after photos.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, ensuring the safety and well-being of owners, team members, and visitors.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Maintenance and Grounds teams, showing flexibility in supporting them as needed.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as required by the Facilities Manager.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations whilst performing painting and decorating tasks, ensuring the well-being of owners, team members, contractors, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to meet the demands of the painting schedule.

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Proven experience in all aspects of painting, decorating, & wallpapering
  • Experience with softwashing - essential
  • Experience of working within a five-star or quality lead environment is advantageous.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality results within specified timeframes and with minimal supervision.
  • Formal training or certification in painting and decorating is desirable but not essential.
  • Competence in using access equipment to carry out the tasks.
  • Willing to work at heights, indoors and outside
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with owners, colleagues, and contractors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety working practices.
