Painter / Decorator
HMP Frankland, Brasside, Durham DH1 5YD
Salary: £28,792 - £33,532 per annum
Hours: 39 hours per week
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Painter / Decorator to join our team at HMP Frankland in Durham.
Working a 39-hour week, you'll be part of a rota covering:
- Monday to Friday (07:30 - 16:30)
- Weekends (08:00 - 16:00)
The role includes 1 in 3 weekends, paid with an additional 15% allowance on top of your basic salary.

What You'll Do
- Deliver high-quality planned and reactive painting and decorating works across the prison estate.
- Help maintain safe, clean and professional environments for staff, visitors and prisoners.
- Take responsibility for the care, maintenance and safe use of tools, equipment and materials.
- Work in line with Health & Safety policies, procedures and risk assessments.
- Support and mentor prisoners through Amey's CRED programme, helping them develop practical skills and confidence for the future.
What You'll Bring
- A positive and professional approach to working within a secure prison environment.
- Strong awareness of health and safety practices, including method statements and risk assessments.
- A collaborative mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and best practice.
- NVQ Level 3 in Painting and Decorating (applications from candidates holding NVQ Level 2 will also be considered).
- Previous painting and decorating experience in a commercial, industrial or facilities management environment.

Security Clearance
This role requires Prison Security Clearance, including a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) and DBS check. Amey will fully support you throughout the vetting process.
