Job Overview
ADS is one of the largest painting and decorating companies in London, working in both the commercial and residential sectors. We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Quantity Surveyor with 5 years + experience to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial and contractual aspects of construction projects. This role is primarily office-based at our head office in Romford, Essex with occasional site visits to monitor progress, verify measurements and support project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Support construction projects by providing precise measurements and layout information.
- Prepare cost estimates, bill of quantities (BOQ) and tender documents for construction projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost planning during the design and pre-construction stages.
- Manage and monitor construction budgets, cash flow, and cost control systems.
- Evaluate and negotiate contractor and subcontractor quotations, variations, and claims.
- Prepare and issue interim valuations, payment certificates, and final accounts.
- Ensure compliance with contract conditions, building regulations, and legal standards.
- Participate in procurement activities, including tender analysis and contract award.
- Conduct site measurements and verify completed work for payment certification.
- Provide cost advice and financial reports to project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with value engineering to achieve the best value for money without compromising quality.
- Identify and manage commercial risks on construction projects.

- Ability to interpret technical drawings, and survey data effectively.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure precision in all tasks.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient in MS Excel or other cost management software.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying but not essential.
- Experience with electronic measuring software such as ‘On screen take off’.
- A background in a painting and decorating sub-contractor environment would be an advantage but not essential.
Salary: negotiable depending on experience.
