Job Title

Painting QC Inspector

Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Painting QC Inspector to join a major Oil & Gas project based in Point of Ayr. This contract role is ideal for professionals with strong coating and painting inspection expertise and recognised certification. It’s an excellent opportunity to contribute to a high-profile project on a fixed-term basis.

Salary

Competitive day rate | £500 - £550
(contractor – outside IR35)

Location and Working Pattern

Point of Ayr | Full-time, on-site | 8-month contract

Client Overview

Our client is a global leader in engineering and construction within the energy sector, delivering complex projects across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Execute coating and painting inspections in line with Quality Control Plans.
  • Verify compliance with standards, specifications, and approved procedures.
  • Issue and manage Quality Records, reporting non-conformances where required.
  • Check material storage, certification, and calibration of instrumentation.
  • Witness and approve coating process qualifications.
  • Inspect surface preparation and monitor environmental conditions before painting.
  • Perform thickness checks for wet and dry films and ensure correct coating cycles.
  • Carry out adhesion, penetration, and impact testing, plus visual inspections.

Must-have Requirements

  • Proven coating and painting inspection experience in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • In-depth understanding of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and quality control procedures.
  • NACE Level 2 or FROSIO Level 2 certification (or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of coating processes and defect identification.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Familiarity with PTS software for reporting.
  • Additional inspection qualifications beyond mandatory certifications.
