Panel Technician
Are you an experienced Panel Technician looking for an opportunity to use your skills in a different kind of environment? Perhaps you have spent years working in a busy accident repair centre, dealership or modern bodyshop and are ready for a change. Or perhaps you have always had a genuine interest in classic and performance cars and would like the opportunity to make that passion part of your working life.
At Aston Workshop, the emphasis is different.
We are one of the world's leading independent Aston Martin specialists, working with some of the marque's most iconic and historically significant cars. From our large facility in the Beamish countryside, our team of more than 40 specialists restores, repairs, services and develops Aston Martins spanning more than a century of the marque.
We are looking for an experienced Panel Technician who takes genuine pride in their work and would like to apply their skills in an environment where craftsmanship, quality and attention to detail are at the heart of what we do.
A Different Kind of Bodywork
If you are coming from a modern accident repair or dealership environment, many of the fundamental skills you already have are highly relevant.
Our projects are not about processing a high volume of similar repairs. A single restoration can involve hundreds or even thousands of hours of skilled work, with our craftsmen seeing vehicles progress from bare chassis and body structures through to completed cars.
You could be repairing original aluminium bodywork, fabricating a section that is no longer available, correcting panel fit, rebuilding a damaged structure or helping return a car that is more than 60 years old to exceptional condition.
There is variety, challenge and craftsmanship in the work, and an opportunity to continually develop your skills alongside people with decades of specialist restoration experience.
The Role
Depending on your existing experience, your work may include:
- Repairing and restoring steel and aluminium bodywork
- Panel removal, repair, replacement and fitting
- Welding and metal repair
- Structural and chassis repairs
- Achieving accurate panel fit, alignment and gaps
- Fabricating repair sections and components
- Metal finishing and preparation
- Working with original panels wherever appropriate rather than simply replacing them
- Developing traditional restoration and coachbuilding techniques
- Working alongside our body, paint, engineering and mechanical restoration teams

Who We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who has strong practical body repair and panel skills and, importantly, cares about the quality of the finished job.
You may currently work in a dealership, manufacturer-approved bodyshop, independent accident repair centre, prestige vehicle repairer or another area of the automotive body industry.

You should have:
- Strong experience in automotive panel and body repair
- Good steel and aluminium repair skills
- Welding experience with aluminium and steel
- A high standard of workmanship
- Excellent attention to detail
- The ability to assess and solve body and panel problems
- Pride in producing work to a standard you are personally happy to put your name to
- The ability to work effectively as part of a skilled team
Experience with prestige, aluminium-bodied, classic or specialist vehicles would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Working Hours & Salary
Working hours are Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, including a 30-minute paid tea break each day.
Paid overtime is available, along with flexible start and finish times to provide greater flexibility around the working day.
Salary is competitive and fully negotiable depending on experience and ability.
