Description

Paralegal – Serious Injury Team

Develop your career in catastrophic injury litigation with one of the UK's leading claimant law firms

Are you an ambitious Personal Injury Paralegal looking for an opportunity to work on some of the most complex and high-value injury claims?

At Thompsons Solicitors, you'll join one of the country's leading Serious Injury teams, working alongside lawyers recognised by Chambers UK and The Legal 500 for their expertise in catastrophic injury litigation. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside some of the country's leading catastrophic injury lawyers, supporting clients whose lives have been changed by serious accidents and helping them secure the compensation, rehabilitation and support they need to rebuild their futures.

Unlike many paralegal roles, this position offers exposure to genuinely catastrophic injury litigation from an early stage in your career. You'll work on cases that are often valued in excess of £1 million and involve life-changing injuries including brain injury, spinal cord injury, amputation, and severe orthopaedic trauma. We focus on some of the most serious personal injury cases pursued in England and Wales, working with leading medical experts, rehabilitation professionals and King's Counsel to achieve outstanding outcomes for our clients.

Working closely with senior lawyers and fee earners, you'll become an integral part of the litigation team, helping to progress complex cases while developing specialist expertise in catastrophic injury litigation. You'll have the opportunity to build strong client relationships, attend conferences with counsel and experts, assist with litigation strategy and gain invaluable experience that will support your long-term career development. For the right candidate, this role offers meaningful responsibility from an early stage, supported by supervision, mentoring and guidance to develop your skills and confidence.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Unlike many firms, we act exclusively for claimants. You'll never work on behalf of insurers or compensators. Every case you work on will be focused on helping injured people and their families secure the support and compensation they need following life-changing injuries. Many of our clients are trade union members who have suffered serious injuries at work, on the road or in public places.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to move beyond volume driven personal injury work and develop their career within a team that focuses on quality, collaboration and achieving the very best outcomes for seriously injured clients.

What the role involves...

As a Paralegal within our Serious Injury Team, you'll support lawyers and senior fee earners on a varied caseload of complex catastrophic injury claims.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the management of high-value serious and catastrophic injury cases from inception through to conclusion.
  • Drafting legal documents, witness statements and correspondence.
  • Reviewing medical records, expert evidence and other documentation.
  • Undertaking legal and factual research.
  • Liaising with clients, medical experts, rehabilitation providers, leading counsel, courts and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting the preparation of cases for conferences, settlement meetings and trials.
  • Maintaining case records and ensuring compliance with regulatory and professional obligations.
  • Providing exceptional client care with empathy, professionalism and attention to detail.

Who we are looking for...

We're looking for someone who is passionate about claimant work and motivated to build a long-term career in serious injury litigation.

You'll ideally have:

  • A Law Degree or equivalent legal qualification.
  • At least two years' experience working as a personal injury paralegal.
  • Experience managing your own caseload and/or supporting complex litigation matters.
  • Previous experience using a case management system.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering exceptional client care.
