Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary – Residential Conveyancing London | Office-based

A well-established legal practice is looking to recruit an experienced Legal Assistant or Legal Secretary to join its Residential Conveyancing team.

This is a newly created opportunity for someone with at least 2 years' conveyancing experience who is confident working independently and providing effective support within a busy property team.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the conveyancing process and will be responsible for assisting with matters through to completion, with a particular focus on post-exchange and completion work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with residential conveyancing matters from exchange through to completion and file closure
  • Preparing completion statements and other financial documentation
  • Coordinating and managing completions
  • Preparing and submitting SDLT returns
  • Preparing AP1 applications and associated documentation
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files
  • Preparing correspondence and legal documentation
  • Liaising with clients and relevant third parties
  • Assisting fee earners with general conveyancing administration
  • Ensuring files are progressed efficiently and in accordance with required procedures

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years' experience in residential conveyancing
  • Good knowledge of post-exchange and post-completion procedures
  • Experience dealing with completion statements, SDLT returns and AP1s
  • The ability to work unsupervised and manage competing priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A professional and proactive approach
  • The ability to work effectively within a busy legal environment

CQS experience or training would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is an opportunity to join an established legal team in a role offering responsibility and the opportunity to become an integral part of the conveyancing function.

Salary will be competitive and dependent on experience and suitability.
