Role: Paralegal – Domestic Abuse

Our award-winning law firm is expanding its specialist Domestic Abuse Department due to continued growth and increasing demand. We are now seeking a dedicated and compassionate experienced Paralegal to join us at an important stage in our journey.

This is an opportunity to be part of a highly respected, supportive team delivering urgent and life-changing legal protection for survivors of domestic abuse.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a hands-on, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding role within our specialist Domestic Abuse team. You will manage your own caseload of domestic abuse matters from start to finish, working closely with experienced solicitors and support staff.

Your Work Will Include

  • Taking initial client instructions using a trauma-informed and empathetic approach
  • Preparing and drafting urgent court applications, including Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders
  • Drafting witness statements, chronologies, and supporting evidence
  • Managing legal aid funded matters, including emergency funding applications
  • Liaising with courts, police, support workers, and interpreters
  • Attending court hearings with counsel or solicitors when required
  • Maintaining accurate case files in line with Legal Aid Agency and regulatory requirements
  • Providing regular updates and reassurance to clients throughout proceedings
  • Supporting solicitors with case progression and administrative tasks

About You

You are a calm, organised, and empathetic Paralegal who thrives in a role where professionalism and compassion go hand in hand. You are confident managing sensitive cases and committed to supporting vulnerable clients.

  • Law degree or equivalent legal qualification
  • Experience in legal aid-funded family law, particularly domestic abuse matters
  • Strong working knowledge of CCMS and Legal Aid Agency procedures
  • Experience managing your own domestic abuse caseload from start to finish
  • Excellent drafting, organisational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage urgent deadlines
  • High attention to detail and strong case management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal case management systems
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

Desirable

  • Ability to speak additional languages will be advantageous
