Paralegal - Commercial Dispute Resolution

Geldards LLP is a leading regional law firm with offices in Cardiff, Derby, Nottingham, and London. We are currently recruiting for a paralegal to join our Commercial Dispute Resolution team within our Derby Office.

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for you to work alongside Solicitors to provide legal advice and guidance to commercial clients in an effective and cost-effective manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • To draft pleadings.
  • Administration to case management systems.
  • To complete directions questionnaire.
  • Drafting witness statements.
  • Complete disclosure.
  • Preparation of instructions to experts and Counsels.
  • Preparation of bundles for trials.
  • Preparation Schedule of Costs.
  • Engage with clients, by phone, in writing, and in person including advising on procedure and prospects.
  • To attend conferences with Counsel.
  • Liaise with experts and Counsel.
  • Attend court / advocacy.
  • Travel, where necessary.
  • Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade and post.
  • Offer assistance to all fee earners across the department with respect of projects.
  • To deal courteously and promptly with colleagues in relation to any instructions or queries arising.
  • Demonstrate a level of knowledge and skill corresponding with experience.
  • Comply with the Firm’s internal processes on time recording, billing, credit control, and compliance.
  • Occasional travel between offices and to external meetings when necessary.
  • Any other reasonable duties commensurate with the grade and post.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A law degree or other relevant qualification, which may include experience of working in a legal role.
  • Ability to communicate confidently with both clients and all department levels across the Firm.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Ability to prioritise, meet strict deadlines, and work under pressure.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy is essential.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team as well as to use own initiative.
  • Project a professional image at all times.

Benefits

  • In return you will have the opportunity to develop your career within our high ranked Commercial Dispute Resolution team based in our Derby office and will be paid a competitive salary (dependent on experience) as well as qualifying for other benefits such as a day off for your birthday and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
  • 35 hour working week - Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing to a maximum of 30 days for additional years of service)
  • A day off on your birthday each year (or closest working day)
