Description

Our award-winning, top 75, full-service law firm is looking for up to three Paralegals to join its successful and growing Commercial Litigation team, based at our new Head Office at 125 Deansgate, Manchester city centre.

Our commercial litigation team is one of the biggest in the North-West. Our depth of knowledge and breadth of experience means we are able to assist with a huge range of business disputes, from the simple to the extremely complex. We operate nationally for commercial clients who need help with high-value corporate and commercial disputes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and ambitious individual to develop their legal knowledge and skills and to learn from our highly experienced lawyers in a collegiate environment. Progression opportunities are available for the right candidate.

The role will be fully office-based initially, with the option to discuss hybrid working after a settling in period.


Key Responsibilities

  • Each role will support key Partners in the team, as well as providing assistance to the wider team as and when necessary, with a variety of legal and administrative tasks including but not limited to:
  • Assisting more senior fee-earners in the conduct of their litigation cases.
  • Attending client meetings, mediations and court hearings.
  • Engaging in telephone calls with potential new enquiries, discussing a wide range of litigation matters.
  • Drafting letters to clients, counsel and third parties.
  • Liaising with counsels’ chambers and the court.
  • Assisting in file opening and onboarding new clients.
  • Creating indexes and preparing electronic and paper bundles for court hearings and mediations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of exhibits to witness statements and other enclosures to formal documents.
  • Assisting in relation to the production and review of disclosure.
  • Attending training seminars to develop knowledge and understanding, and to be aware of ongoing changes to procedural rules and developments in case law.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
  • Strong academics, including a law degree or GDL.
  • Excellent organisation skills and a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with a focus on providing great client care.
  • The ability to adapt and work at a fast pace.
  • Strong work ethic and ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Experience in a paralegal role (commercial litigation in particular) would be advantageous but is not essential.
