Full Time Paralegal - Asylum/Immigration Law

Location: North West London (Based in West Hampstead Office)

Salary: From £27,500 per annum (pro rata, depending on experience)

J D Spicer Zeb is a well-established law firm based in London (with offices in Birmingham and Manchester also), providing legal advice and assistance to both private and legally aided clients in criminal, immigration, and family matters.

Due to our ongoing expansion, we are seeking a high-quality paralegal with at least one year of experience in asylum/immigration law.

Key Objective: To deliver high-quality legal services to our clients while developing your competency to practice as a paralegal in a supportive environment.

Key Duties:

  • Attend client meetings.
  • Manage cases and transactions.
  • Understand client expectations and requirements.
  • Assess legal problems and advise clients on costs.
  • Conduct legal research and devise case strategies.
  • Draft documents and maintain confidentiality.
  • Comply with office procedures.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Register asylum clients and prepare statements.
  • Prepare clients for interviews in asylum matters.
  • Draft legal aid extensions and pre-action protocol letters for judicial review.
  • File post for fee earners when necessary.
  • Liaise with experts and draft instructions to experts.

Administrative Duties:

  • Complete time recording and maintain files.
  • Handle billing, pay costs, and close files.
  • Follow administrative systems and procedures.

Development:

  • Gain competency in required skills.
  • Participate in team meetings and attend internal courses.
  • Stay updated with law and practice.
  • Assist in business development.
