Paralegal (In-house)
£26,500 - £27,500 plus excellent benefits (Work Level 6B)
Manchester city centre, hybrid working, splitting time between home/remote working and coming into the office.
We’re looking for a paralegal to join our Co-op Group in-house legal team.
In this role you’ll have the exciting opportunity to work across a wide variety of legal work in disputes, property, commercial and employment, supporting colleagues in the wider legal team as well as leading on your own pieces of work. We’ll look to you to build positive relationships with colleagues across the business to provide legal advice alongside solicitors in the team. This is a fantastic chance to develop your legal skills across a broad range of specialisms whilst benefiting from expert mentorship and support.
What you’ll do
- Manage your own workload and provide legal advice to a variety of business areas on a wide range of legal issues
- Review, draft and negotiate a wide variety of legal documents and advise internal partners on legal risk, receiving support from solicitor colleagues
- Identify legal issues and collaborate with our in-house legal specialists
- Support solicitors and other paralegals on larger projects and pieces of work
- Assist with legal know-how and horizon scanning and create guidance documents/training materials for colleagues and other teams in the Co-op
- Undertake legal research on a broad range of topics
- Get involved in Co-op community initiatives, events, and activities

This role would suit people who have
- A law degree or graduate diploma in law
- The ability to demonstrate commercial awareness and understand a variety of business requirements
- Good relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues across the business
- Strong prioritisation and organisational skills
- A proactive approach with a passion for learning
