Meet the team:

Our Medical Negligence team deal with claims arising as a result of healthcare professionals acting against the interests of our client’s health. We advise clients who have suffered physical, mental or economic loss as a result of this negligence and guide them through the initial investigation into their claim and thereafter proceeding through the pre-action and post issue phases of County and High Court litigation. We also regularly attend our client’s inquests.

Our specialist team have dealt with thousands of claims against hospital trusts, private healthcare providers, care homes, individual GPs and dentists on a variety of different injuries ranging from low to high severity, with particular expertise in relation to fatal claims, industrial disease cases, amputations, brain injury and multiple injuries.

The opportunity:

We have an exciting role available for a Paralegal to join our thriving Medical Negligence team. You will play a key role to provide support to senior fee earners.

This is a hybrid role where you will be required to travel into our Birmingham office on a weekly basis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaising with clients in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Providing assistance on a broad range of medical negligence work
  • Working with appropriate supervision, to assist on large complex claims
  • Assessing medical records
  • Instructing experts and considering their reports
  • Drafting Letters of Claim and considering the responses
  • Instructing Counsel
  • Preparing cases for the issuing of Court Proceedings
  • Assisting with litigated case

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • A minimum of 6 months' experience within medical negligence, personal injury, general litigation etc. gained in a Law Firm or professional services
  • Strong IT skills, to include MS Office and Excel
  • The ability to manage files effectively
  • Experience in working to strict deadlines
  • Enthusiasm for working with medical negligence matter
  • Ability to produce a high standard of work at a fast pace whilst maintaining accuracy and good attention to detail
  • Good communication skills with the confidence to liaise openly with colleagues and clients
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, initiative and confidence in your own ability
