Department: Professional and Commercial Risk

Location: Manchester

Description

DAC Beachcroft's Professional and Commercial Risk team is one of the leading defendant professional indemnity practices in the UK, acting on behalf of insurers and professionals across a broad range of sectors.

We have an opportunity for a Paralegal to join a specialist professional indemnity team in Manchester, supporting a delegated authority scheme focused exclusively on claims against law firms. Acting on behalf of leading insurers, the team investigates and resolves allegations of professional negligence made against solicitors and law firms, handling matters from initial notification through to resolution.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop technical, commercial and client-handling skills. You'll be given responsibility from an early stage, managing your own caseload while working closely with experienced lawyers and insurer clients. Initially, you will support a specialist delegated authority scheme handling professional indemnity claims against law firms, gaining exposure to a wide variety of issues and developing strong claims-handling and investigative skills. Following this period, there will be an opportunity to broaden your experience within the wider Professional and Commercial Risk team, working across a broader range of professional indemnity and litigation matters.

Key Responsibilities

You will be responsible for handling a varied caseload of pre-litigation professional indemnity matters on behalf of insurer clients, investigating allegations made against law firms and assisting in the resolution of disputes.

This is a client-facing role with significant responsibility and regular interaction with both insurers and insured law firms. You will develop experience in investigating claims, assessing liability and drafting responses, while building relationships with key client contacts.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
