Paralegal - Residential Property

We are currently looking for an organised and motivated Paralegal to join our reputable and growing Residential Property team on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within a supportive and ambitious team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the team’s continued success by providing administrative support across residential conveyancing transactions and helping to maintain the department’s excellent reputation for client service.

You will be joining a friendly and collaborative team who work closely together to deliver a high-quality service. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience within a busy conveyancing environment, developing core legal and administrative skills within a well-established and expanding department.

Experience/Attributes Required

  • Experience working within a legal or professional services environment, ideally within residential conveyancing or a similar area.
  • Able to support a team by managing allocated administrative tasks, ensuring they are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work both independently on routine tasks and collaboratively within a team.
  • Good time management skills, with the ability to plan and organise workload in a structured way.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and able to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when working to deadlines.
  • Good interpersonal skills, contributing positively to a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Work Type

  • Providing administrative support to the conveyancing team across the lifecycle of residential property transactions.
  • Assisting with post-completion processes, including preparing and submitting Land Registry applications.
  • Supporting the closure and archiving of completed files in line with firm procedures.
  • Ordering conveyancing searches (e.g. local authority, drainage, environmental) and ensuring results are recorded and filed appropriately.
  • Maintaining and updating key dates and deadlines using internal systems.
  • Preparing and submitting standard forms, including Land Registry applications and SDLT returns, under supervision where required.
  • Assisting with billing processes, including preparing draft fee notes and issuing invoices.
  • Carrying out general administrative duties such as scanning, photocopying, and document management.
  • Compiling and organising contract packs and transaction documents.
  • Supporting with financial administration, including liaising with the accounts team to monitor payments and balances.
  • Acting as a first point of contact for client calls, taking messages and providing basic updates where appropriate.
