Job Description
As a Paramedic Assessor / Functional Specialist at Capita HAAS (Health Assessment Advisory Service), you’ll use your clinical expertise and analytical skills to assess benefits claimants in person or via video link, write detailed reports, and provide clinical recommendations while enjoying a more structured and flexible working environment.

Flexible hours: Full or part-time (minimum 3 days per week)
- Monday to Friday (8am–5pm), with no weekend or night shifts (occasional 8pm finishes may be required)

- Starting at £39,500 (rising to £40,500 after DWP approval)

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Conduct in-person, video, or telephone assessments to evaluate how health conditions impact daily living
- Demonstrate observation, empathy, and listening skills while gathering information
- Analyse clinical evidence and supporting documentation
- Produce detailed reports (3,000–4,000 words) providing evidence-based clinical justification for DWP decisions
- Continuously develop your knowledge across a range of medical conditions
- Complete up to 3 assessments per day in structured environments
Requirements: About You
You must be:
- HCPC-registered paramedic with a valid Professional Practice Number (PIN) and no current practice restrictions
- Minimum 1 year of post-registration experience
- Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to produce clear, accurate, and detailed reports
- Comfortable working quickly to meet structured targets
- Proficient with IT and Microsoft Office, with the ability to adapt to new systems remotely
- Safeguarding-aware: Exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; enhanced criminal checks required
- Must hold the right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship unavailable)
- Have either a driving licence or access to transport for clinic assessments
