Overview
Join our Underwriting team as a Parametric Underwriter and help shape the future of climate and natural catastrophe risk transfer. In this role, you will support the underwriting, structuring, pricing, and execution of parametric insurance and reinsurance transactions globally, working closely with Business Development, Risk Modelling, R&D, Climate Resilience Solutions, Finance, and Legal teams.
You Are
You are a quantitatively minded underwriter/structurer rather than a traditional market-facing underwriter. You enjoy working with data, models, and uncertainty while also collaborating effectively across technical and commercial teams. You bring strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and a desire to help build both a portfolio and an underwriting platform that can scale sustainably over time.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the qualitative and quantitative assessment, pricing, and underwriting of parametric insurance and reinsurance transactions of our pipeline, complying with our partners' requirements.
- Structure, design, and evaluate parametric triggers and payout mechanisms suitable for the client’s needs, including basis risk reduction.
- Analyse catastrophe model outputs, climate datasets, hazard information, and exposure data with support to R&D and open to contribute to product development.
- Support the team to develop a diversified and sustainable portfolio of parametric risks by assessment transaction impact and contribution to the portfolio, accumulation management, and capacity deployment.
- Contribute to underwriting guidelines, risk appetite frameworks, and portfolio management processes.
- Lead/Support the development of side projects contributing to further robustness, efficiency, and transparency of the underwriting work, such as underwriting tools, pricing frameworks, accumulation monitoring tools, and claims monitoring capabilities.
- Being accountable and collaborate closely with Business Development, R&D, Climate Resilience Solutions, Finance, and Legal teams for the execution from A to Z of new transactions, as well as in-force monitoring transactions.
- Act as a key technical stakeholder across the organization, ensuring effective coordination between teams.

You Have
- At least 7 years of experience in underwriting in the related NatCat, weather, and Agri field.
- Fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- A UK work permit.
- Strong technical understanding of weather/catastrophe risk assessment and risk transfer structures.
- Strong analytic background: actuarial pricing, climate risk analytics, i.e., experience analysing weather data and catastrophe model outputs.
- Experience contributing to portfolio management, accumulation assessment, or underwriting strategy.
- Interest in developing underwriting tools, analytical frameworks, and operational processes.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including client/broker facing situations.
- Strong Programming capability in Python, R, SQL, and Familiarity with geospatial analytics tools is advantageous.
- Familiarity with REST API and macOS nice to have.
- Experience with Agentic AI and PowerBI is a plus.

The Underwriting Team
The Underwriting team is responsible for the assessment, structuring, pricing, and portfolio management of parametric climate and natural catastrophe risks globally through our different investment vehicles (Natural Disaster Fund, Corporate MGAs) and their varied mandates and risk appetite. Working closely with the Business Development and R&D teams, the Underwriting function ensures innovative risk transfer solutions are commercially attractive, technically robust, and aligned with portfolio objectives of our partners.

The position is based in London (Lloyds Building), with international travel for business development, client management, partner meetings, and conferences.
