Paraplanner
Location: Colchester, Essex
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000
Join a growing financial planning business with ambitious plans for the future
Are you an experienced Paraplanner looking for a role where you can develop your technical expertise, work on interesting and complex cases, and be part of a business that is genuinely investing in its people?
This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, well-backed independent financial planning group with ambitious growth plans. The business is bringing together established advisory firms within a well-resourced and professionally governed environment, creating a strong platform for continued expansion.
As the organisation grows, so does its paraplanning function. This is a great time to join, with the opportunity to work alongside experienced advisers and senior leaders, contribute to the development of best-practice processes and play an important role in delivering high-quality financial planning to clients.
There is also a strong focus on professional development and career progression, with support available towards further qualifications and, for the right individual, progression towards Chartered status.
The Role
As a Paraplanner, you will work closely with advisers to develop and deliver high-quality financial planning solutions. You'll take ownership of a varied caseload, carrying out detailed research and analysis before translating your findings into clear, accurate and compliant client recommendations.
You'll have exposure to a broad range of financial planning areas, including investments, pensions, tax planning, trusts and protection, giving you the opportunity to further develop your technical knowledge.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
