The Opportunity
The role involves analysing prospective clients’ portfolios and preparing regulated advice on areas such as pension transfers, investment bond surrenders, investment taxation and investment suitability.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will formulate asset allocation recommendations and prepare high-quality suitability reports, supporting the delivery of a professional and client-focused service.
The Day-to-Day
- Evaluate prospective clients’ objectives, portfolio holdings, investment time horizons, cash flow requirements and overall financial circumstances to determine suitable asset allocation recommendations.
- Review and formulate recommendations for clients with complex or highly specialised financial circumstances.
- Review prospective clients’ existing pension and investment bond arrangements to assess whether a transfer or surrender is suitable.
- Prepare clear, accurate and compliant suitability reports and supporting documentation.
- Develop and deliver training for other teams within the business as required.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects designed to improve operational efficiency and the quality of client service.
- Maintain accurate records and work within the firm’s Training and Competence (T&C) framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Your Qualifications and Experience
- A university degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- A Level 4 qualification, such as the CII Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning or CISI Investment Advice Diploma, is preferable.
- At least three years’ experience within financial services, ideally in a paraplanning or investment advice environment.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to organise and manage competing priorities effectively.
- A quantitative and analytical approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work under pressure and contribute positively within a dynamic, collaborative team.
- A strong understanding of investment portfolio management and financial planning principles.
- A thorough understanding of client suitability and the regulatory requirements surrounding the provision of financial advice.
- The ability to complete an initial Fit and Proper assessment before carrying out the role independently, with annual assessments thereafter to ensure continued compliance with the requirements of the role.
